Florence Lautel-Ribstein is the founder and President of SEPTET, Société d’Etudes des Pratiques et Théories en Traduction, set up in April 2005 at Strasbourg II University. SEPTET is France’s first University Translation Society, aiming to provide a centre for academic reflection and research in the field of translation. The society is open to academic or professional translators, translation theorists and/or historians and comparatists. After her Ph.D. at Paris III-Sorbonne Nouvelle in English poetry, Florence Lautel-Ribstein obtained her “Habilitation à Diriger des Rcherches” in Poetry Translation from Strasbourg University in 2008. She is the author of a critical and bilingual edition of the complete works of the famous Earl of Rochester: John Wilmot, Comte de Rochester (1647-1680): Oeuvres (Oxford: Peter Lang, 2008). She has written numerous articles on poetry translation and has organised SEPTET’s first two international colloquiums: Translation and the Philosophy of Language (Strasbourg, 2007), The Translation of Poetry as an Instrument for Literary Criticism (Perros-Guirec, 2008). She is also the founder of Revue SEPTET at Editions Anagrammes.
